Bombastic, Romantic, Fantastic Lover!

We intellectuals go around interacting through the pen, another one writes and other reads at the other end, that's our interaction, we are to sparsely uttered to share round tables. As we interact in this unique way, we motivate, encourage and inspire each each. On December 27, 2015 I read an article by a great fellow, Bongani Dube on the Sunday Swazi Observer. The article inspired me to look back at 2015, I only noticed after reading it that 1015 is as good as dead and gone. One thing I liked from the article are the words "You nasty, nasty 2015", in another line he calls it "Darling"; this brings to me the sweet sour feeling he or most of us have about the year. The words reminded me of a great movie I once watched, "Sexy Evil Genius", oh! The starring lady in that movie, playing the character of Nicky, for once you say 'Nick' you are dead. Everybody in that movie felt sweet sour about Nicky.


Bongani is right, the year is gone and we have both sweet and sour memories of it, myself included. By "we" I mean me and you actually. I hope you have now noticed, I love love, so wrapping the year I should take that aspect of humanity, Bongani and a lot more penners have touched much on all the rest, why should I sing an already sung song?

Yesterday I went to my Facebook, in there I have a page "Elcrema", they know a lot about love and relationships, I wonder if they ever lose their loved ones to others; the way they talk about love, I do not expect them to lose loved ones other than to death. The Elcrema authors made a collection of sayings that would make men "better and romantic" lovers. I loved a few of the sayings, and they reminded me to send a text to my lady and say "I love you". Fantastic! Please, be honest here, how do you feel when reading the above sayings? Don't you feel like repenting and being the greatest lover? Like Shaggy said, "bombastic, romantic, fantastic lover!"The above sayings are really great to hear, they surely would melt your lady, they touched me too, I loved them. One thing about ladies, which men rarely take advantage of, is that ladies love being appreciated. Make sure you appreciate something on her per day, that would tell her that you care and do take time to think about her. Men are busy in nature, when I'm watching Man. U against Chelsea with the guys I am very busy, or when having a drink or two with the guys. In that busy schedule, just fit her in with a compliment.

I won't waste time and mention all the things that happened during the course of 2015, I will just channel us to look forward. Let us forget about all the happenings of 2015; the heart breaks, the tears, the heek ups, the old fun, the old memories. Let us make 2016 an all valentine year, a year of love. Love does not mean always happiness, but it means giving all for the one you love. "Just like gambling, keep pouring the coins", I once said.

Christimas

Christimas has become some kind of 'family day' to many of us.  They release us from our work stations and we go to have time with our families; we dine, we chat, we laugh, we enjoy it. I personally love it.

One thing that hurts me is the blood that flows out of lives, the scars, the break of happiness. I implore you my brothers and sisters, loved ones, beautiful ones; please be responsible while you enjoy.

Music is one great art that takes one to a different world, a perfect world, a world of pure imagination. I love music, I love fantasy, I love happiness. Happiness is only in the fantasy world, I assure you on that. For one to be happy, one has to forget about other things and set their mind only on that particular happy moment. Before I started working, I thought getting paid brings happiness, No; I was wrong. With music, you forget reality and think only of the great things expressed by the musicians; be it music of appreciation or of complaining, they all lock you inside your own room. Mostly, when I'm at my workplace, when I wake up in the morning I boot my computer and listen to music. As the music plays I sing along, I agree with the singer, I disagree with them. During that time I am in a world of music, a world of fantasy, a world I would never be besides through music. I have one reason for doing this, I want to make sure that when I step out of the house to reality, that world be new.

"if loving you is wrong, I don't wanna be right..." How does this sound? To me it sounds WoW! This is a song by Luther Ingram, I'm happy to disclaim it before you think I'm the one who says this to you, hey! people love being loved but they never love the way they would love to be loved. These are the sacrifices you only find in music, whereby one would rather be the greatest culprit just to be with the one they love. How I wish you could get the lyrics to the whole song, "If being right means being without you I'd rather live a wrong doing life...". WoW! Can you imagine that? Can you?

Luther Ingram is not the only one who has a really music song, I also know a great jam by Julio Iglesias "When you tell me that you love me". I love this song, when I listen to it I feel love deep inside me, love I have never felt before, and I do nothing than send "I love you" to that Lady whom I love. "I'll make you safe no matter where you are, and bring you everything you ask for nothing is above me, I'm shining like a candle in the dark when you tell me that you love me...", hey, believe me on this, this song takes me to a world I wanna be forever.

Hope I am not in a way advertising certain music, I'm only making sure that you understand the sweet sting of music in our lives. I know by now you are wondering about my age, do not worry I'm a late 90's soul, just that I njoy great old jams. To me music is like wine, it matures with age. I wasn't a fan of Chris Brown ft. Jordin Sparks's "No Air" when it was really hot to many of us, I only played it most in 2015, and a friend was like "really! You still got this one?". Still on the effect of music, I hope you know the Everly Btrothers, they play a really great jam, "let it be me", hey, believe me again, it makes you think like "Wow! Love".

No, No No! Its not me, but the Everly Brothers. I'm sorry to quote much of this one, but I couldn't help but feel like I should say these words to you, oh! How do you feel at reading the above verses? Just be honest, how do you feel? As for me, I feel like "oh! Love". I would play this one in the morning, and I would go to my cell phone and send a message, 'I love you babe'. These are the kind of jams that reminds you how great love is.

I'm not a persimist, but that does not blind my eyes from worries of life. Even mourning or complaining music, the Adele type of music, does take one to a fantasy world. And, I won't bring up Adele, unless some people feel like I am talking to them when saying "Never mind I'll find someone like you...". Like really! Why would I look for someone like the one who just hurt me? Am I looking for another Hurter?

Beau Williams plays "Alvina", oh! what a jam! You know when Alvina plays, you think of all your lost love, all the mistakes you'ved made, all the wrongs you do to your current love.

The guy in the song is down on his knees begging the not there Elvina. Hey! Have you ever talked to someone who is not there? Talk to her like she is right in front of you? That is because your eyes do see her at that point, just that they see her turn her back and leave. This song takes me to a fantasy world as well, just like the happy ones.

Let me tell you, I really do listen to old music. I can't afford to leave without drawing your attention to Julio Iglesias' "If I ever needed you".

I'm tongue tied, tied. People would rarely admit to being stupid, let alone the egocentric creatures, men. But, in the song we hear such, one admitting to have been a fool. That is what we all wish our partners could say whenever they have hurt us, we wish they would come down and show that they are sorry, make us feel great and better. Unfortunately, these are words we only find in music.

This is my advice, if you want enjoy happiness, love and life, you have to take time and lock yourself in your room and play great music, music that says all the things that you wish to hear but you are never told. Smile, laugh, say yes, say no, intersect with musicians. I've dined with Julio, Phill Collins, Kenny Rodgers, The Mighty OJs, Temptations, Lionel Richie, Michael Lens; I have responded to their words, affirmed their words, laughed at their words. That is why I would never go to a live show, because I won't get the quality time I get with then in morning before I go to work.

I am not the kind of a soul who easily gets bored, but sometimes I do surf through my WhatsApp and check my friend's profile pictures and status messages, believe me, its fun. Since the popularity of picture messages, people now express their feelings through the pictures they upload as their profile pictures. That is where I met this above qoute. When I saw it I was like, 'o.k true'. If I were to add a word to the line I would say "relationships are like young birds...". I usually say to my friends 'to find a great partner relies solely on luck', I have been into relationships myself, I assure it takes a fragile handler. The time when you try to hold him or her much closer, s/he gets pushed away. Also, the time when you just don't care, s/he gets pushed away feeling ignored.


I sat down and looked at this, looked at the relationtiops I have seen, through my friends, my brothers, cousins and neighbours. Handling a relationship takes both partners, what makes it to be like a small bird is having one party trying so hard to keep it alive while the other doesn't even remember that it exists. If it was a cup it would have two handles, calling for two hands to hold it nicely. One thing that leads to one partner nursing a little bird is the reasons for which we fall in love. If I were to ask, why did you fall in love with your Ex or your current partner? There are a few, much few of us who would say "I don't know, I just felt love overwhelming me, I love that soul", while according to my belief that's the answer that would define a genuine reason for falling in love with someone.  Once we have a clear reason why we fell for them, then it would be an artificial relationship, mainly because once that person loses that aspect, your love dies a natural death. "I just loved his wheels... I was caught by the taste of clothing... He spoiled me that I can't deny the offer", these are some of the responses you would get. And these are the kind of situations which lead to fragile little birds.

I do not know why and how it happens, maybe that is where the 'love is blind' ideology emanates from. I do not understand why we cling to our partners even if we do not feel the love, like we never felt it. I'm sure you will think of a couple yourself; those couples from which everyone can see that one partner has never loved the other, while the other is sensationally burning with love, o.k I have seen some of such. We keep on nursing the fragile bird which does not even show a sign of willing to live. Please sweet angels, get me well, I am not saying minimise this page and go straight to your messenger and send him or her an "I'm done" message. What I'm just saying is give it a thought.

"You hold it tight, it dies...", the reason for this is simple, sometimes; you never miss the water until the well runs dry. Its normal of humanity, we never know the precious things we own until we lose them. So, the tighter you hold, the more s/he forgets your reflex muscles can still loosen up and s/he falls. And still, I'm not saying dry the wells fellas, I'm just talking about what is on the ground.


"You hold loosely, they Fly...", you know the reason? O.k I do. This is rather expected though, the bird feels unwanted. What makes the bird feels unwanted is the fact that it is not doing any means to live.

"If you hold with care, it stays with you forever". I'm sorry, may I please begg to differ on this. In my own view, there is no bird that can be held 'carefully' if it is not willing to stay, it does not see the reason for staying, or it just doesn't like the place. The bird has to have an interest to stay and survive too. As I have said, its a two handle cup, it needs both partners to strive to make it work. Love really does take two, it is not supposed to be one of the two lovers working so hard to help their communion survive. Let me make this clear, when two people are in love, none between the two of them is doing a favor for the other by falling in love. They have to both do so because they feel the love, thus they will see the reason to sweat to keep their relationship going forever.

Let's kill the birds, and hold our hands together, embrace love, enjoy love. Let me tell you, it is so nice and enjoyable to be in love, reciprocal love. I love you.

Sixteen days of activism against abuse of women and children. I am fully beihind this campaign, I'm not a fan of abuse or any form of violence. Among women is my mother, among children is my daughter.  I think this shows it to you how much I am attached to women, I can't perpetuate their abuse in any way. Actually, I feel like the sixteen days is not enough, why not three hundred and sixty five days of activism against abuse of women and children?

Men should not use their strength to make women and children's lives miserable, instead they should use that strength to ensure that women and children are safe and happy.  I for one, I cannot let my lady carry a heavy load in my presence, unless its our daughter and she is crying; I would never let anything bad happen to my daughter in my presence, something I can prevent with cmy strength. My strength is to their advantage, not their woe. What kind of a man who does not find joy in making a woman smile, being the hero for a lady? I do not know that kind if men, I know men who always are eager to do great things for a lady. The kind of men I'm talking about would never hurt a lady either by words or physically.

I do not understand really how men get to abuse and be violent to women. On the campaign then, I would like to voice my view on the title or heading of it. "Sixteen days of activism against abuse of women and children"... "...abuse of women and children", who are the monsters then? Whom are we acting against in the sixteen days? Let us not waste time people, the answer is simple here, MEN. Men are the ones who abuse women and children, the sixteen days is against them, purely.  As I have already said, among women is my mother and my daughter among children. Really! Do they need to be protected from me? In me they see a shelter to hide under. So, who are the men who abuse women and children? A simple answer again, the very same supposed pillars of strength.

O.k, men abuse women and children. I have a question as well, are men never abused? Have we not heard of cases whereby men are physically abused by their wives? Have we not heard of cases whereby men are verbally and emotionally abused? I for one have heard some cases. I have heard a case where a man was splashed with boiling oil. That is abuse at it's best. That being said, we cannot despite the fact that in most cases where man are abused by women it's a retaliation from the woman. There are a few cases of pure men abuse.

In the struggle to bring the abuse to stop we need not to single out one group as monsters. We need all social groups to join hands in the fight. So, if we single out one group as the monster group we might chase them away in the process, they might shy away. Like really, how do you join a fight against you? You are boldly said as the cause of the problem, then how do you shout around " stop it! Stop it!"? Honeslty I love the fight against abuse of women and children, above that I love humanity as a whole. Let me not beat around the Bush; I want to say let us fight against "human abuse", 'sixteen days of activism against human abuse', isn't that nice? Let humanity be one and fight against all social illnesses together without pointing fingers to certain groups of the society.

When I Was Born

When I was born

One can be poor and be less privileged in many ways, but everyone has a birthday. A birthday is the day which the doctors told your mother to be the day when you were born. It is not all the dates that were told to us that are accurate, some of us were given the not correct dates as our birthdays.  When that day comes, the day which were written on our certificates of birth, people take their time to send to us messages through the different types of communication arenas. Some call us, some send us cards, some meet us and say "happy birthday". It brings a great feeling, you feel like the day is great. "happy birthday", what makes a day happy? I do not know.

Some of us were lucky in their lives, they have celebrated such days, had parties and a host of presents. As for me, it's kind of a new thing, but I appreciate it. I believe the day in which one was born deserves to be celebrated and admired. If not for the day in which one was born one could not be where he or she is. On that day you were lucky, you could have died at birth, but you survived. Is that not enough a celebration? I think it is.

We can not stay away from the truth that some souls misuse the chance of others trying to honour their birrhdays. Some people, especially ladies, have about three to seven birthdays in one year. They aim for presents from different individuals, so bad.

On the twenty eight'th of November I received a lot of great messages from friends from different social media wishing me a happy birthday. Really that was great. I am happy how different individuals sent messages to me. One day I will have a party myself and celebrate with family and friends, celebrate my birthday. I bow.

As I write this letter my eyes are glassy honey, my heart is leaking blood, and water of course. I have been distanced from you, for days I haven't Fed you even a piece of biscuit. This letter serves as a token of apologies my lovely angel.

Before I made you my sweetheart I went around looking for ways and strategies to take care of you. One advisor told me never to neglect you, for there is no one else who can give you attention and food besides me. If I neglect you a natural death might or will surely succumb you. At your death what will I be? Who will I talk to? Who will I send to talk to the world? Who will listen to me honey? I need you sweety. Please my love, may you be patient with me. Please stay with me regardless of all the bad things I do to you; the neglect, the hurt, the unfaithfulness.

Above all, I love you so much. May I please go away from you for a moment, I will always think about you in my absence. I promise to feed you to obesity when I come back to your loving arms. I already have about seven meals for you in my mind, when I get a breather I will feed you sweety. I love you.

I suppose that we all got the chance to go to pre-school, or say most of us, that is where we got the chance to use colour pencils the most. We got the chance to be creators, we would create blue people, red people, yellow, green. Maybe we were still pure at mind and heart, no racism, no gender bias no religious bias. All we knew is that we were colouring a human being, the colour did not really matter, that proved our innocence. One thing about colour pencils that brought a challenge to us is the fact that we did not have a chance to erase the colour even if we felt it was not fitting well at some point. That is why sometimes we would have one face with two or three colours, it was fun. Where a colour pencil has been, no one will doubt it has been there.

Maya Angelo said “I’ve learnt that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Come on people, who am I to disagree with Maya? I fully agree with her on this. If you want to stick like the colour of your colour pencil in someone’s life, make sure you bring a strong feeling to their emotions. Funny enough though, the feeling can either be a bad feeling or a great feeling, but people will never forget how you made them feel. I’m a bad person, I really am, I still remember how one lady made me feel embarrassed in 2005, today it is 2015; a good ten years. She brought a strong wave of emotion to me, I still remember it like it was yesterday. Maybe that one is better, I still remember how one fella made fun of my situation of being raised by a single parent, which was in 2000, ouch! Fifteen years ago!

Haven’t I beaten around the bush too much? I feel like I had, I’m very sorry about that. The title is “Let Us Be Like Colour Pencils”, it is just that I do not like long titles, otherwise I would have said “Let Us Be Like Colour Pencils If Not Permanent Makers”. I am trying to say let us make sure that the people we have been with never forget us for the good that we have been to them. Please, I am begging you, do not make them remember you for the emotional sores you left on their souls. Make people remember you for the good that you were to them, make them miss your presence, make them pray that you come back to be with them again. There is only one way to do so, it is to bring smiles to frowned faces.  Have you ever seen a sad scene whereby one is about to reach a group of people chatting and laughing, just when s/he is about to reach them they shake hands and disperse? One reason for that is they know s/he might break the mood. Let that not be me and you.

On the 17th of November 2015 I was tasked to be the Master of Ceremonies of a mini function in my work place. The school was sending off their external examination group, they had finished writing their exams. I love saying things, even unnecessary ones; I asked the learners to think whether the party is a ‘farewell’ party or a ‘throw away’ party? I explained to them that I understand farewell to be ‘heartfelt goodbyes’, and then challenged them to think whether the school was saying ‘goodbye’ or ‘at last, let them go’? The speakers of the day proved that they were happy to at last get rid of the group. During their time in the school, they have lived like colour pencils, but colour pencils which were too sharp, they pierced the paper, and instead of leaving paint they left pores and sores. I implore you, please leave a mark than a hole.

Let us be well sharpened colour pencils if not permanent markers, let us leave a mark where we have passed. Let those we have been with remember us, let them miss us, let them wish to be with us again.

Looking at the picture above one would wonder why is the man in a black t-shirt holding the hand of the lady being embraced by the guy in a shirt. In a married couple this is what we refer to as adultery. Intimacy between a married individual and someone else who is not his or her marriage partner is what we call adultery, the other one who is in an intimate relationship with the married individual can either be married or not. What Jim does in "The Have and the Have Nots" by Tyler Perry. One thing that one would wonder about is who is really to blame for the situation in the picture? The guy in black or the lady?

In most societies, especially in the past, women would suffer the most if they are found guilty of the crime of adultery. In Jewish society, until Jesus stopped it, a woman found guilty of adultery was stoned to death. Jesus Christ Himself proved adultery to be the highest crime, He called it as a crime which is enough to compromise the law of death doing a married couple apart and allowed one to divorce their wives if found guilty of adultery. Even in many African cultures, the wife is sent off her marital home if found guilty of adultery. One thought that has pushed me to pen this partucular piece is the 'unfair' nature of the punishment of adultery. Why do women suffer more than men in cases of those found guilty of adultery?


Can Themba authored "The Suit" and showed us clearly the situation whereby a man guilty of adultery walks free. In that story, Matilda, Philemon's wife is caught red handed by her husband, she is caught in the act of adultery. What Philemon does is allow the man to go free and then punish his wife in a more psychological than physical manner.Philemon orders his wife, Matilda to take care of a coat the adulterous partner left in their house as a visitor. He orders Matilda to dish the coat, take the coat for a walk among other things. Only Matilda suffers here, not the man who was caught in the act with her. At the end of it Matilda takes her own life. Most things are inherently done in societies, just like the punishment of one culprit in adultery, that is to say are done without any explanation. So, one who gives him/herself time to think and have an internal deliberation of the issues may come up with a notion of why somethings are done in a particular fashion.  On the issue at hand, I have deliberated in the issue with myself and with my friends, the conclusion was that society knows in a way that women have the power to clear themselves from any form of adulterous acts. It is the Lady who has to agree for an adultery to take place. If they can set their foot or maybe both feet down and say "No! I'm married" or "No! You are married" adultery can die a natural death.

That being said, let me try to paint to you a picture of men when it comes to their sexual appetite. There is one friend of mine whom I always label as 'pevert', whenever I say that he's always like "man, Im straight". By straight in this situatiin he means ' not gay',thus arguing that having feelings towards women is expected from him, appreciating their assets is expected of him. Every straight man is expected to be touched when a well asseted lady is at his view. This puts men at a position wherby they say "I love you" to a lot if women, or they just try to spark conversations with a lot of women. Most men, straight men, enjoy talking to a sweet lady, not neccessarily to beg for love, but just the chat. As a result of that men need a lot of courage to win against a lady who is availing herself to them. As well as they need a lot of courage to stay away from telling nice words to ladies, men enjoy making any women smile, whether they know the lady or not. Lately my friends, and maybe me, that is if my gurlfriend won't see this post; we complain that we no more enjoy the privilledge of testing our charming abilities. We lost this privilledge because once you say to a lady "how are you, is that a smile or you are just beautiful?", that lady is already in the list of your girlfriends. That's bad, please ladies, give us the chance to prove whether we are serious or not.

Not in an intention to support gender based injustices, I am one person who has respect for women, one reason for my respect is the fact that I was raised by a women alone .  I am one soul who prefers "gender harmony", I'm fully behind the equal chances regardless of gender. Back to tbe adultery issue, I believe the powerful creatures, women, have the power to ensure that adultery comes to and end. They have the power to say "No", even much better now that patriachy is long dead. Women have the power not to engage in any intimate relationship with a married man, also to be clean of any intimate relationship besides their husbands. It is women who say "Yes" to a married man, as well as it is they who say "Yes" to another man while they are married. They hold the keys, they are the drivers if the ship, they choose who to allow in or not. Men are always willing to sneak around scooping sugar from any open bowl.

Please, get me right here. I am not trying to encourage promiscuity in men, and I am not trying to justufy their horny rabbit habits. Instead, I am imploring my fellow sisters to take it to their hands and ensure that no other women cries the pillow wet no more, ensure that all women are given the deserved quality time by their spouses. Women, you have the power to stop the cry, stop the single parenting by women, stop the bitterness in other women's lives. Say "NO" to a married man and say "NO" to a man who wants to ruin your marriage.

Strangely enough though, they have enough power to draw me down, and when I am just about to sink and die, I wake up from the dream. I have many times heard that the devil works with water, snakes and fire, so I am quick to believe these are works of the so bad devil. As a result, I always shout “Jesus!” when I wake up from this dream. To say it does not work, to say His name does not work the wonders it is supposed to, would be to set a bull’s eye on my back1, as that would be an insult to the Lord Jesus.  I then decide to say maybe I’m too unclean to attract His attention.  One other thing which is as constant as this dream is the thoughts about my lovely and sweet Nomsa after waking up from this dream. Oh! My lovely Nomsa, if I could get a chance to ask just one favour from the Almighty God - to free my Nomsa out of those walls they have locked her in. He shall grant me immediately.

I met Nomsa at the University of Swaziland. We were both students there during that time; she was studying B. Eng, and I was pursuing my diploma in Law. I will no doubt tell you that she is the most beautiful lady I have ever seen in this world; one cannot resist smiling at seeing her oval dimpled face. Even now that I am telling you about her, I can’t restrain myself... believe me, you as well would smile at her sight.  That place where they are keeping her is far from being a good place for such an angeless; I swear the heavens are frowning over this. It was none of her fault - any living human would have done what she did under the circumstances that my family put her in.  Yes she had angelic looks, but she was no Goddess. Even heaven’s greatest enemy was once heaven’s most favoured angel, thus it is normal of humanity to fall to traps.

When we found out that Nomsa was pregnant, we were shocked. But later it came to our minds that the ways of the Almighty are beyond our understanding as humans, so we accepted the situation and vowed to stand for all hardships that may befall us as a result of the pregnancy.
   In May, three months after we had found out about what had caught us, we had to go home as the University academic year was elapsing. We had to take a bus to Mliba where we come from. And this meant a new phase in our lives, revealing this to our parents, and church especially for me. My parents have brought me up under strong Christian rules: the church always comes first; you can miss whatever you want to, even school, but not church. From my upbringing, there is one Christian law that I loved so much. This is not to say I hated the others, but to say this one was deep in my spinal cord; spinal cord, yes for me things do not stay in the heart, but they stay in my spinal cord. ‘Do unto others as you would love them to do unto you’. I really loved this law; actually, I still do even to this here date. My wish is that if every living human would adopt this law, I assure you, my Nomsa would still be with me even today.

To my surprise, my mother already knew about the secret. Just when I arrived, she could not even let me put down my bag. She burst like some cough that she has been holding for more than two hours. “Her family is not of the prestige that could bear a grandchild for me and your father!”, she shouted. “It just cannot happen! We have worked way hard that a family of lazy mites can just wake to find themselves swimming in our wealth,” she continued, and I just knew what she was talking about. I was tongue-tied. I failed even to say ‘hello’ to her; I just passed-by to my room. There I lay on my bed and rolled a mass of thoughts around my mind.

Evening came. My little sister knocked at my door to deliver a message that mom and dad were calling me. I woke up and went to the sitting room where they were. It was our first encounter with dad since he was not in when I arrived. “Son, how are you doing? How are studies going?”, dad asked. I responded to that, and even before I finished, my mom popped in. “We won’t be wasting time asking you if you are the one who impregnated Nomsa. We called you here to give you orders of how you should handle the case. You are going to take that money and go to Dr. Hakim in Manzini. He will do the job for you, and you will wipe away the shame that you are about to throw on our faces”, she said. My father could say nothing other than to nod as his wife related to me the orders to follow.

That same night I called Nomsa and asked her to meet me by the road which passes behind her homestead. I went to her to deliver the new developments. She was happy about our meeting as she would also have the opportunity to tell me her parents’ reactions. “My family was disappointed Mandla, but my father was quick to mention that spilled water can never be recollected from the ground. Let us learn to live with it”, Nomsa said.
For a moment, I stood unmoved. Nomsa’s words kept reverberating in my ears and mind. Her father’s reaction made my news even heavier to deliver to her now. It would have been better if her father had gotten very angry at her that he even chased her. As for now, how do I start? “M...mmm...my parents wa... want us to get ri...”
Nomsa did not wait for the rest. Like an impala escaping the fierce anger of a hungry lion, she disappeared from my sight. I could only hear her quick footsteps in the dark as she vanished into the still darkness. I was left blaming myself for what I had said.
But that was it.
My mom could not bear the news that Nomsa was not accepting the abortion idea. “These people are so wicked! They aim to tame you into rescuing them from their poverty through attributing to you a pregnancy that you are not responsible for,” she said when I told her about Nomsa’s response. How I wished I could explain to my mom. But she did not ask me even one question. She had all the answers.
   My mom went to Nomsa’s home to tell her mother that she should tell her “wicked” daughter to stop her “weird” plans and just do what she is offered, as that would save them a lot of trouble. She threw all sorts of insults to their family, calling them termites that eat mud and live in it. Due to anger from what my mom had done to them, Nomsa’s parents changed their attitude towards Nomsa. They would always lament about how she went to reap them trouble from the gods of the land. They had become the family of witchcraft in the community. Consequently, they ended up buying the abortion idea with the hope that they would do away with the mosquito which always rang in their ears.


Even to them, Nomsa did just what she did to me- she ran. Nobody knew where she had gone. She no more wanted anything that had to do with me, and she wouldn’t even pick my calls. The search began: I, her family, and mine, all taking different directions. We could not make one team because we all had different intentions. I prayed that team her family gets her first than team my family, I was afraid my mom would even go the mile of taking Nomsa’s life. When a huge task like this one is underway, time has the tendency to fly. The two months of university vacation were over, and now we were in a study break to prepare for our first semester examinations. I decided to go home to observe the situation regarding Nomsa’s search. A lot had been tried then: the police, the radio, and even traditional diviners by her family. They were told she was still alive, and that was the source of the little hope that was still pumping.

The day after Christmas, I was resting under a tree near Nomsa’s homestead. It was under the hot summer sun; one would swear thunder would burst in the next forty five minutes. But the sun was already setting, and still, no sign of rain. I stood up and stretched myself. At a far distance, I noticed a slowly trotting small sickly creature heading towards the home next to the road. It was a figure of a person holding a parcel in its arms, holding it with care like a fragile object.  The figure was moving so slow that one would wonder if the fierce heat of the sun had any effect on it. I sat down again as I found out it was still hot for me to walk home; maybe I should wait thirty more minutes. As I was sitting there, my ears were hit by a loud cry from the home next to the road. I thought to myself that though I was not a favourite to that family, but I could not let a soul be lost, mostly because the enmity was not my wish. I stood up and ran in the direction where the sound came from. When I got there, I got the shock of my life. It was Nomsa. I had to be happy beyond explanation; for all this time, I had so much wished to see her. Even as I sat under that tree, wishes for our reunion were running through my mind.  But for some reason, I could not scream for joy as you would expect me to. I went closer to her hoping to get a hug. She stood motionless holding the parcel towards me.  I felt the stench of a dead body. I thought maybe it was some dead donkey, wild cat or dog hit by a car.  But I didn’t look sideways to see what it was; I didn’t want anything distracting my eyes from the sight which I had for so long longed for. I took the parcel from the motionless Nomsa and held it tight in my bosom. The more I did so, the more the stench troubled me.  This time, I stopped looking into Nomsa’s eyes and slowly unwrapped the parcel.  I could not believe what I saw. It was the body of a baby, decaying.
   I looked at the body, and then at Nomsa, and to the body again, still in my arms. As I continued doing so, Nomsa’s lips opened, and she started to talk for the first time since I came. She wasn’t audible enough, but I did hear her whisper: “It is this that brought all the unbearable pain to my life, to my family, to my love, so I decided to take it back to where it came from, maybe, just maybe I could get back my life as it was, happy”.

We may not know what really inspired the people of the era in the picture to fix broken things, but they surely did. Nowadays we are disposable oriented, we do not want to use, wash and use again. From the things we use to the things we own as well as to our partners. The number of marrying people is going down and that of divorcing individuals is growing. I for one can not be sure of the reason behind, what I can only do is try to analyse the situation. Doing an analysis of human habits, behaviour, languages is my interest if not one of my hobbies.

In the past, before me and you, societal values were different from the ones we have now. During the time of our parents it was a fulfillment of life to have a life partner and be married. Marriage was rather a simple stage of growth just like puberty, no one would want to escape puberty. Marriage was known to come to the life of every individual at a certain point in time, there was no hesitation or doubt over that. Marriage fulfilled one's life, just like puberty.

As we have likened marriage to puberty, we all wish we could go back to the times before puberty befell us, we wish to go back and live that stress free life. Unfortunately, we can not turn back the hands of time, the knowledge that there is no turning back enforces us to come up with ways to handle the challenges which befell us when puberty reached us.  This is the same as marriage of the times of our fathers and mothers, failure was an enemy during those times. During the times of our parents it was a taboo to go in and out of marriage.  It proved failure of that individual, that is where the fixing of broken relationships emanated from.

As opposed to the past times, today finding a good paying job and being self sufficient fulfills our lives. Nowadays there is nothing as stressful as marriage, having someone to explain to why you do A and B.  Freedom as got into the blood of every individual now, we all want to live a life without conformity. Funny enough though, we do get into marriage, the only difference is that we find pride in moving out of marriage. Marriage still is a stage of life that we know we should pass through, just that nowadays we just want to be initiated and then move out again. We just want to say "I tried". Failure has lost its sting in this era, rather it has become a gate to "freedom".

One possible reason why we do not try to fix things is because we get in waiting for the time of our partner's slippery to come, when it comes we rock the 'happy dance' on our way out. We get into marriage knowing that our marriage is a disposable item, once it proves to be faulty we throw it away. It does not mean that our fathers and mothers were all perfect, No, but they had the wish to keep their marriages for ever.

Another possible reason behind the disposal of marriages is the position which money has taken lately. Money can buy you 'everyting' nowadays; a companion, even intimacy. Intimacy is among the major things that two individus marry to enjoy, so what about an era where intimacy can be paid for just like ice cream? The love of money has become stronger, stronger than the love humanity gives to one another.

Let us go back and get our spanners; these spanners are in the form of patience and hope, let us fix broken things than dispose them.

In as much as I'm so talkative that I much prefer prose, but sometimes I do opt for verse and end up having poems. Whenever I do so I condense my feelings and emotions into a short string of verses. One lecturer from the University of Swaziland once impressed me, he gave me the reason why poetry is so complicated sometimes. He said "poetry is subjective...through a poem the author conveys his or her immediate emotions and experiences as well as ideas, the author conveys these without elaborating on them" Lukhele (2013). I loved hearing those words, they relieved me, I was like "no wonder one reader thinks that and another thinks that, that is because nobody really knows what the author was feeling at the time of writing". To try and unpack a poem then, we try to fit into the feelings of the author through the emotions triggered by the diction and devices used in the poem. We do not dare make absolute statements, instead we say "I think by this line the author meant this because of this nature of the words in the line". O.k, I know I might have just confused you here, but do not worry we will make examples as we go on.

The subjective nature of poetry has later been proven to me by my own poems, I sometimes write a poem and those I give to read would bring a whole lot of ideas that never crossed my mind when I wrote the poem. I write emotional poems, through my poems I can paint you my past experiences and my own views that I feel nobody else can understand.  A writer uses the diction, style and literay devices to convey his or her immediate emotions through a poem. One funny thing though, or at least for me, I never plan on which device, style and kind of diction am I going to use for a poem in order to clearly pass my thoughts. What happens is I would then hear someone reading say "the use of this particular word makes clear this idea", and I be like 'o.k!' To be honest, now that I no more am studying poetry I am forgetting some of the leteray devices, but they still appear in my works.

For the reason that I do not have my "Crossings of Africa" with me in this shack of mine, today I will only concentrate on unpacking and illumination of the subjective nature of poetry. And I will try to show how I suggest that we treat poetry to derive its meaning; that is the ideas conveyed and the feelings involved.  Let me recite to you this poem, below.

           
               A Dilemma

There is this wall
This so Strong wall
It bounds around our hearts
It keeps them safe
Safe from arrows from bows


In the process of safety
Pain is enclosed inside
It grows everyday
The wall aids in safety
But also aids in pain


So fragile
Yet so willing
So willing
Yet so fragile
Is our hearts

Break it?
We are prone from the arrows
Keep it?
The blisters of pain grow inside
At a time they will burst

Love
What a wonder you are
A double edged sword
Heals and hurts
Titilates and cuts

What is the author talking about in this poem? What is this wall? Who is shooting with the bows and arrows? These are questions that came into my mind after reading the verses above. The only person who clearly knows answers to my questions is the so called B. Dlamini. But then, because I have read the poem, let me try to use my feelings to explain what B. Dlamini might have possible meant to convey to us.

In the first stanza the author brings to our attention 'a wall', a wall which helps to poretect 'our' hearts from arrows shot from bows. One thing we can note is the use of a 'wall' than a shield which we know to be widely used in battles to protect one from objects aimed at soldiers. The use of the 'wall' might mean that the protected one is not fighting back, but is just inside the wall wondering why is she or he being shot at. The author uses "our" in the line where we are told what the wall does, "It keeps our hearts safe". This tells us that the voice behind is not the only one helped by the wall, but also the audience, thus the use of inclusive "our".  In the next stanza we are introduced to a second function of the wall, notably though, now the word 'help' is not used, but 'enclosed' is rather used. "In the process of safety pain is enclosed inside". This may mean that the second function of the wall is not the intended one, but it is a package with the intended one. This can be collected even fronm the line "But also...". The use of the "but" tells us that this is not an appreciated function of the wall.


The third stanza brings in a confusion of emotions, the juxtaposation of willingness and fragilety brings to us the confusion. The author also decides to use "Is" followed by a plural lexical item while normaly we would expect "are our hearts". The reason for that might be that regardless of the plurality of the hearts, but they are one in nature, they feel the same way.


The confusion and "Dilemma" as said by the tittle gets even clearer in the fourth stanza. Question marks are used there, and notably the first panctuation of the whole work, "Break it?". I suppose "it" refers to the wall in this case. The author brings consequences of breaking it and those of keepping it, and this shows the indecisiveness of the voice.

The last stanza brings a completely new noun, "love". Love is personified in this case, and the voice is talking to it like a person, "what a wonder you are". The author then gives attributes of love, what love is, the use of a metaphor, "double egded sword" takes our minds back to the two functions of the wall. Even more when we meet the line "heals and hurts, titilates and cuts", just like the wall aids both in pain and in protection.

These being said, I think the poet is in a dilemma whether to fall in love or not, and when he or she looks at it she or he concludes that either way there is pain. The wall talked about here might be fear, the fear stops one from falling in love, the fear of being hurt. That is where the voice says "safe from arrows from bows", that same fear though keeps one lonely inside, and that is the "pain enclosed" by the wall. The title "A Dilemma", paints the state the voice is in, the voice is at crossroads whether to fall in love or not. The author leaves even the audience in the same dilemma that she or he has, because we are never told whether he or she ends up getting in or staying away. And the inclusion "our" drags us into the dilemma as well. The message here is love is an aspect of life that we cannot escape, why would one stay away and be hurt without some glimpses of joy? The dilemma of the voice tells us that she or he has already tasted both sides if the sword.

A new article in The New Yorker magazine uses court documents from a class action lawsuit against Syngenta to show how it sought to smear Hayes’ reputation and prevent the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency from banning the profitable chemical, which is already banned by the European Union.They are definitely putting toxic chemicals in our food but do you think the Professor may be on to something in his research claiming that some of those chemicals intended purpose is to make people gay?" This brings me to a topic that I have been shying away from for a long time, homosexuality. I have friends who are homosexuals, or say suspected by others but proven to me to be homosexuals. On Facebook I have one American friend, he is homosexual. On top of that I still listen to Sir Elton John, the first time I had of a homosexual marriage was through Elton. I have never thrown a stone to any of the homosexual individuals I meet at the mall.

There is one thing that has really pushed me away from writing about homosexuality, one push factor, I do not understand how people become homosexuals, and I haven't yet came up with a theory that is satisfactory to me. This makes me shy away from the topic, but what has been published by WordonDaStreet.com under the title "Black Chemist Says They’re Putting Chemicals In the Food To Make People Gay" Pushes me towards saying something. Before going further with the discussion, let me make it clear that I am not going to give a verdict of whether homosexuality is right or wrong, that's not my take.

During my primary school era, late 90s, in my School, Sidvwashini Methodist Primary School, there was a mystery. I say mystery because that is what it was to us. There was a young boy, or say pupil, whom we heard rumours about. The rumour was he or she has both reproductive organs. Older guys would lure him or her to the other side of the school area and they would ask him or her to show them. With time he or she began to charge a 100cents for seeing, me and my friends organised the money and our show time came. Yes, she or he had both organs. I'm not sure I if this is relevant to homosexuality, or if it has any effect to one's sexual orientation. This is just me telling you about what I remember in my primary school days.

Back to the issue at hand, are homosexual people taking homosexuality through choice or they discover that they are homosexuals? That's the question which haunts me. I have always argued that emotions are non reasonable, I sometimes fail to answer myself on why do I so much love the love of my life. You never plan to love nor plan to hate as well as to cry. To me there is a possibility that homosexual people do not sit down and plan to love the people of their own sex. I think they get surprised by 'why do I feel this way towards that guy' , that is if it's a male, or 'why do I feel this way towards that lady' for the females. Sometimes, I suppose, they try to fight it off for a time, but it persists.

Another possibility, hormonal dysfunction. How many times have you said to someone "thanks brother" only to find out later that its a lady? Or "thanks my sister" and later be told it's male? I'm not a natural scientist, but I think we should be expecting some disorder from someone who looks like the gender which one is not.  During my tertiary time I knew a lady who was male. He had lady friends and he looked like a lady. So what would you say about that? Did he choose to be so?

We also have a third set of homosexuals, society brewed homosexuals. Single parenting has become normal in our worldwide society. I believe it is normal of children to imitate their parents, that is the one they grew up with, if they love that parent he or she becomes their role model. Then let's think about this, a girl who grew up with only her father, having her farther as a role model, liking the way her father treated her as a women. Are there no chances of her willing to be the same to a woman, being sweet to her like her father was to her? Are there no chances that she develops manly habbits and thus feeling like she needs to be a man and someone else be a female partner to her? Or a girl who grew up with her father and has the void of a woman's love. Are there no chances that she grabbs herself a mother and that mother be her patner? The same with males, he may be 'girlish' because he grew up with mom, fitting mom's heels and weaves and dresses. He doesn't understand himself as different from his mom. Or he misses the fatherly love, thus grabbs another man to fill the void.


Another set we have is that of the dissapointeds. The person has an emotional disorder due to a deep hurt he or she felt in the lovelife field. I have many times had women say 'all men are the same... All men are dogs', and have many a times heard males say 'women are evil, and they are all the same thing'. This may lead to one opting for the one who is not a dog, for ladies, or the one who is not evil, for men. I know of many guys who stay alone and swore never to fall in love again because of hurt. One thin is, they would usually hang around with a brood of boys, we do not know though, beyond the walls. If only those walls could speak.

There is this set that really confuses me though, the 'bi' ones. How can you be bi? I'm afraid those are just afraid of coming out and take one side. Or, there some benefits from one side, thus they have to keep them both. Or, just winds of fashion, they want to taste everything as they only live once.

Then Hayes brings yet another thought to my attention, arguing that there are individuals who intentionally brew homosexuals through a chemical in foods. O.k, one reason for that may be that one of them who are in any of my above sets embarked on a rather inhumane intention to make others like him. Do I know, No I do not know actually. Let's think about it for now.

Whom are You Waiting for to Give You a Go Ahead?

Passion, I went online to look for definitions of this here word. I just got the definitions which desrcibed passion just as the inexplicable emotional zone within me felt passion is. Dictionary.com impressed me when they say "passion is a powerful or compelling emotion or feeling, as love or hate...strong amorous feeling or desire; love; ardor." Why should I waste my efforts when such a sweet description has already been offered? Even sweeter, wikipedia defines passion as an intense emotion, a COMPELLING enthusiasm or desire for something. They go on to bring to our eyes the origin if the word, Greek, where it purely means suffering.

Not to say I am a Greek fan, but most emotions and anchor ideologies usually have Greeak origin. I agree with them that passion is 'suffering'. The suffering aspect actually clearly manifests in cases of suppressed passion, suppressed passion haunts one like his shadow does on a sunny day. Passion is elastic, one bad thing about it, the more it has to haunt you the more it stretches, and after sometime it no more stretches, if it keeps on being ignored. But, it never dies, rather it gets less passionate. How many of your passions have you stretched to limit, they no more haunt you now, they just pass by?

There is only one major mistake we beautiful people usually make, we want to wait for a go ahead. One thing that slips me is who are we expecting to give us that go ahead. The only people who rarely endure the haunts of passion are those who are passionate on common endeavours, simple because they follow a lot of individuals ahead of then, and that alone offers then the 'go ahead'. Some of us have dreams and endeavours that have rarely been embarked on in our societies, thus our passions are kept within us just because it looks like 'my dream is odd, who has ever done that in my region?'. But, am I a replica? Or a copy? No, me and you are not, we are purely distinct and have the ability to bring to our regions new endeavours for those after us.

It does feel risky, mainly because we in most times care about 'what will they say if I fail?'. I have a piece of advice on that question; people who are not busy in their own lives and have the time to convert mine into their show, it's great, let them watch as I give shots at the bull's eye of my dreams and goals. At first they will nod when I miss, but later when I start hitting the target they will forget their hating objective and start cheering and applauding my achievements.

The way I see it, following your passion can only satisfy the deep hunger inside you, no one else's, so why look and think about others' reaction when it's only you who feels the void? Why? Can you eat a burger to entertain your friend's hunger? Like can I eat the burger and your stomach gets full? No! If I have a passion, the first point is I do not have to explain to anyone why am I embarking on any route, it's me and my emotions here. If I feel a passion I just jump to the ride of my emotions, not the person next to me.

Don't ever be let down or be discouraged by anyone to persue your passion, not even me. Seat back, relax, take a deep breath, then say this is me persuing my passion, not entertaining anyone. The fruits will be yours, so let the choice be yours.

I'm a music person, of course on the listening end of it, singing! Oh! That's completely a different story for another day. One morning we were in a morning devotion at my work place, I work in a missionary school so we have a devotion every morning before work commences. We are singing and then this colleague of mine whispers to me "man which part are you singing? Are singing the private part?" So I think I now have given you a picture of how bad am I in singing.

I did not open the document to talk about my vocal bruises though, I would like us to discuss 'giving love'. The singer in the opening lines say she needs a prayer, if you could listen to whole song, she says she needs a prayer because love has found her. A great song, or just a great singer, Asa. I would like to concur with the Nigerian Lady, love is complicated that it does need a superpower invoking.

One important thing to mention before discussing further is that love cannot be searched for. One cannot be going around searching for love. My concern is that I believe nobody knows the colour of love, so if one embarks on a search for love, how will s/he know that s/he has found love. In my own view love has to 'find' you. Love has to take you by surprise, and when you realize you should be like "am I...am I really in... Oh I'm in love, it has found me." The fear is another sign that you have met love, once you feel so so in cloud nine with no glimse of fear know that you have found love not love finding you.

That being said, it is important to point out that love is a game of giving. Just like in a gambling machine, just load the coins without much expectations, you will be amazed when the machine goes crazy and pours back. In the love game you just have to give love to your best capacity, when your turn to receive comes you will not believe it has. In a relationship roles change, there is a point where one partner loves all out, and the receiving one feels like wow! So make sure that when your turn comes, give your best as well. One thing is that the roles change without the parties involved knowing it. Just give, your turn to receive will come.


When you feel like you love someone, and that someone allows you the chance to, just pour the love. Do not wait at a corner and try to peep on what he or she brings, NO, just love. Love is one favour that returns itself without the host noticing that s/he is returning the favour.  Just like gambling, pour the coins in.

War is a Game, Just Like Rugby and Cricket


War does not really break because there is an apparent need, for a war to break we need one power to have new tactics and new war technology that needs to tested and bragged about.  Honestly, after spending a lot of time and funds inventing a new gun, really why would you stay away from testing it? This is just like finding out a new recipe, you cannot just keep it to your own self, but would want to get a chance to showcase it to others.

Or have a new soccer team that feels it can beat any opponent through its unity.  If two or more countries ally up they surely would feel the need to test their strength against another team. I do not blame them, I understand the feeling. Its a feeling I used to have after reading different sources on a topic that interest me, I would feel like someone should ask me about it so that I can express my knowledge.

In the case at hand it is rather different, there is blood and life involved here.  If only war was like a game of boxing, whereby only the two boxers get into the ring and fix their divergences without a third party enduring even a bruise. But in war, its a different story.  Let me make an example, with no intention to point fingers of course, when the Palestinian group 'Hamas' took thrones in Palestine they felt they can deal with the Israelis to gain back land which they feel was unfairly taken from them and given to the Israelis.  A large number of the Palestine population, I believe was not really in a quest to war with Israel for the land. In the process though, whether you feel like the war is necessary or not, you should be ready for bruise. In the latest Gaza dispute, as reported by the BBC newsround of 20 February 2015, "Most recently in July 2014, authorities said over 2,200 people were killed - most of them Palestinians - and many more injured, during 50 days of violence." Me and you are pretty sure that these people are not all army people, these are mostly civilians. The on and off nature of the Gaza dispute proves clearly my claim that wars are just to test new tactics and technologies. The Hamas cease to fight so that they can go back to the drawing board and restructure, once they feel like they are strong again, they blow the whistle like the reff in soccer.

Joan Armatrading sings a great song about women ruling, she says "That women rule the world if women ruled the world, It would be a good thing, No more war, No more hate... Like mother nature feeds the world, A woman will think of her child first, No more sons dying young,Women bore sons for living" Joan Armatrading, 'If women ruled the world' (1992). Not in an intention to raise women above men, but in a way I find my innerself nodding to Joan's ideology.  They are not perfect, but a "true" women would not collect individuals to a death fated spree. O.k, me and you know that despite the preaching of gender equality everyday but some men would rather die than give the world to women.

What if we can make one Island a war ring, do not worry about strings to enclose the ring, the sea shall hand us that for free. I wish I could send this to the ICC and United Nations, I wish I could ask them to declair one of the World's Islands a "war ring" so two parties who want to war would send a application for using the war stadium, and they be given the rules of the game and starting time to stoppage time. If they feel like they need a rematch they apply again. This would benefit us in a this way; no civilians will ever get bruises of wars, neither their taxes will be used to rebuild war destroyed structures.

I know by now you are wondering how this crazy moron reached such a stupid idea. I do not blame you, I would think so too. But all in all, in my view, to the world's leaders war has become a game like any sport where two sides clash to prove theirstrengths and tactics. So, why not grant them the filed of play away from innocent civilians?

The Top

we everyday are told to work hard to improve ourselves, and to put all our efforts so we reach the top. Everybody wants to reach the top, we do.

There is one thing that keeps me wondering though. How will I know that I have now hit the 'Top' mark? As I see it, as you push much top you near the greed. I myself wish to reach the top, but who will I socialise with when I am at the top? Will I still share a loaf of bread with my friends, or I will keep my bread safe for coming days?

I am so in love with humanity that I do not want to push myself above the others, I just need self sufficiency and that's all.

Happiness

There is nothing more important than your own happiness.

Doesn't that sound rather selfish?

This does sound selfish in a way. That being said, we all can confess to that we wish to stay happy all the time. There are certain individuals whom their happiness is attained through the suffering and pain of others. What about them? Should they go on and value their happiness more than anything as well?

Maybe we can modify the statement. 'There is nothing more important than human harmony and love'. This being attained, everyone's happiness is guaranteed. By everyone I do not include emotionally impaired souls, like those whose happiness is attained through the tears and blood of others.

My happiness is always short lived, I can be happy for a moment after lending a hand to needy soul, but just when I turn around the corner I come across another soul, even worse a soul I can't help this time. It hurts.
Not to Point Fingers


I think there is really one primary school subject that I would like to heap praises on, that subject made the human me out of the mammal me of that era. Whether you like it or not, social studies, except the map issues, was one subject which gave us most of the skills of humanity which we have today. During our time social studies had a piece of history, science, home management, and morality; what more would one look for then?

It is in Social Studies that we learnt the gender of countries and governments, we were taught to say “Zimbabwe has a lot of minerals, she has ceased mining them due to resist to white supremacy”. ‘Zimbabwe… she’, then we pick the gender of countries there, as well the gender of governments. ‘She’ creatures in the mammal world hold caring and loving characteristics; there is no mammal that the National Geographic Channel has brought to my knowledge in which the young are left with the male. Of course we can’t run all around looking for shrubs to hide the fact that humans have began such, we have seen cases of women who leave their womb less men to take care of their young, gender equality of course. I would like to lay a charge against the two feet species of mammals; they are one group which changes the routes of nature every day, more than any other mammal group.

The reason countries and governments were accorded the ‘she’ pronoun, I suppose, was the caring and loving characteristics that are expected from them. A government is a mother to the nation it leads, as a mother deciding which baby formulae to feed to her baby, the government should decide on laws that will make life good and the environment conducive for her nation. Thus, government… she, because it has to be a mother figure to the people she leads. A mother loves her children ‘equally’, troublesome or helpful; we are expecting the same from the mother government then, love for both for and against.

Gender equality then would pound its claws on me for talking about one gender, though it mostly does not when it is men who are left out,  but let me stay safe less it starts to care about men through me. Male mammals have characteristics too, for one let us take the lion. The lion hunts only when hungry, while the lioness hunts to produce breast milk and feed the young when they are old enough to chew. But, even if the lioness has a successful hunt, the order of eating is never interrupted; the LION first, then lioness and young ones. The case of leopards is even worse, the male and the female only meet for twelve hours to mate, young ones are a full burden of the female. It never hunts for them, nor just ‘hala’ at them.

This applies even to the case of governments, there are male governments, the LION kinds of governments, or even leopard kinds of. Even if the people try means and make their own source of bread, but the ‘LION’ will eat first, that’s the case of male governments. As the title has already alluded, there authorship of this article had no intention to point fingers, it was just to an  attempt to heap a pile of praise on Social Studies, this is one subject that made the now from the then me, and I also know six of my friends who are the products of Social Studies too.
Is There A Thin Line Between Them?

Are they the same?
Or are they really different?
Maybe they follow each other in a recipe.

Does the recipe really matter?
Like do they always result to the expected outcome?
Hard work + Loyalty + Humbleness= success?

Where do the two chip in?
Or they are icings on top?
Do they go together or one of them is enough?

Faith or Fate?
Or maybe both.
Do they complement hard work or they go against it?

Is there a difference between them?
Fate and Faith.
IT HAS BECOME A SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST

Among the three big cats of the African zoo, that is the Leopard, Cheater and Lion, there is nothing that brings a challenge as giving birth to new a born; their survival is the scarcest outcome. Even worse among the lions, the pride has the option of devouring their own male young.  This is normal among the zoo dwellers, but when by chance this habit drifts to humanity, it shocks the two legged and known for the highest reasoning mammals.

Lately it has become a ‘norm’ that the media reports to us about a new born child who has been given marching orders back to the unknown world within a few days in this known one. We can spend the whole time in the pendulum cursing at those who happen to commit the act, but one thing that skips our minds, basically because of empathy for the lost soul, is to ever think about the cause of such shocking acts. One who wants to deal with mosquitoes should not be trying to chase those which are already in his house, but should be looking around for their breeding places. The same applies in this case; we should be worrying about the circumstances which lead to one who has suffered for a handsome nine months to abandon the yield of their suffering. We should keep in mind that the process of pregnancy is far from titillating, but instead it is so frustrating; so why would one keep such frustration for a whole nine months only to get rid of the result?

First, I would prefer to refer to those people who commit such acts as ‘survivors’, actually in my own view they do not commit such an act, this befalls them. Everyone is capable of finding oneself in such a trap, it is normal of humanity to be blinded by a situation considered ‘difficult’ to them not even too see a solution right under their nose. From many of us’ Christian upbringings, one is expected to stay a ‘virgin’ until marriage; by the way ‘virgin’ does not only refer to females, but anyone who have not yet engaged in sexual intercourse. For the sisters, missing your monthly blood donations means you might be the greatest outcast in church, more than the fellas who put Christ Himself to the cross. And then, an inner debate commences, whether to end the pregnancy or to keep it, as the ‘inner debate’ goes on, the zygote grows too; and one finds herself at a stage that is beyond abortion. That sister is left with no choice but to keep the pregnancy while looking if her surroundings are doing any change towards accepting her situation, and later it comes out they do not. As a result, when the baby arrives she decides to do away with the knife that cuts her relationship with her pastor that she loves so much.

Poverty is one things that we cannot deny to be part and parcel of our life in this land locked ‘Island’, not all of us can afford certain ‘basic’ needs. This sister meets a financially stable brother, and sister gives her all to this brother, and even goes a mile to conceive for the good brother, still in a means to keep the brother. At the news about the pregnancy, the brother makes it very clear that he is not responsible, and is not going to take any responsibility of such a fruit he did not plant. Our sister whom we love so much is left alone in it, hoping to get support from family and friends, the ones who have been cheering her affair with brother; only to find that they have vanished into the sea regardless of the fact that we are landlocked. Sister has no other option than to do away with the thief that has stolen away her love, family and friends.

One word, or maybe two, SUPPORT or EMOTIONAL SUPPORT; that is all our sisters need, they need us to whisper into their ears ‘you are strong, you will handle this’, and that God the creator loves them and only Him is to judge them.

I always wonder if anyone else besides me see that politics are the root of inhumanity. Politics are nothing but a forum for greed and selfishness.

Maybe we need to think about a place where leaders are never paid a cent, but are given allowances at the end of their service according to what they have offered during their time of serving.

But, How?
